By participating in the PhD Writing Boot Camp you get:

• Writing tools that make your writing much more efficient

• The chance to focus solely on your writing for 3 entire days

• Pleasurable surroundings that promote a good writing process

• Coaching sessions on demand if you run into blocks

• To meet other doctoral student and exchange experiences about writing

Why did we develop the Boot Camp?
The Boot Camp was developed in continuation of a one-year development project called WRITE! where 48 researchers participated in 4 workshops on writing with the aim to develop more efficient and creative writing competences. This project was a great success and participants evaluated that they had benefitted greatly. One PhD student in the project said:

Through the last year since I participated in the first session of WRITE! everything connected to writing has become so much easier! Before the course I had quite big problems with writing and hours could pass by where I felt that I didn’t produce enough – and not least, it was not very comfortable […] Today everything is different – I actually produce a lot of text on a daily basis, but the feelings connected to writing are also different. I AM a writer now – I didn’t consider myself to be a writer earlier.
Rosita, PhD student and participant at WRITE!

This Boot Camp is a continuation of the Write! initiative and our main motivation stems from the enjoyment we get from seeing the task of writing transforming from a burden to a pleasure.

What you can expect during the 3 days
To be an efficient writer is about understanding your own writing process and taking control over it. The most common challenges are procrastination, managing your energy, keeping up self-confidence and organising your writing in an efficient way.

During the Boot Camp you will learn a number of efficient tools that we will practice again and again during the workshop. Together we will have 15 hours of intensive writing and we promise that you will be surprised about how much work you can do in this time span. We will also focus on keeping energy up, by using both physical and mental methods, which can easily be implemented in your daily writing practice.

On day 3 you have the opportunity to make a writing plan for the next month. You will be challenged on whether or not it is realistic and we will work with ‘writing snacks’ as a way of becoming a writer on a daily basis.
